Red, White and Blue challenge card

I needed a birthday card this week and thought it would be fun to make it to a challenge instead of my normal routine - i.e. make a card and then see if it will fit a challenge. Have to say that this way is much easier LOL.

I used one of my LOTV cute squares and just darkened the red with a Promarker. I cut a 6x6 base of white linen textured card and covered that with Dovecraft blue spotty paper. Some red ribbon and a red brad from stash and the red doily was cut with a Marianne die. I used my La-La-Land banner die again with a paler blue Dovecraft paper and added a few gems for some sparkle. Oh and a few touches here and there with my trusty glitter pen.

Happy Retirement

So this is the card I made for my lovely DH who has taken early retirement and officially retired today.

                                                  Congratulations D.
Looking forward to spending lots more time together xx

                                                     Bunting made using
La-La-Land Crafts Flag Banner 8040 die

The image is from LOTV's Vintage Boys Art Pad. Sentiment is also from LOTV. I used Dovecraft Back to Basics Design Papers and the blue embossed card was in my stash from way back. I added some Glossy Accents to the glass (although it hasn't shown up in the photos). The Relax wording was cut using my Cuttlebug Olivia alphabet.

eBosser and a Challenge Card

Two postings in one week - Go me, LOL.

I thought I'd share a photo of my new toy which I absolutely love. I was very happy with my Calibur which is only a little over a year old but was finding it hard to use (my fault nothing at all to do with the machine).  I've recently been told I need a shoulder replacement and my lovely DH agreed with me that I deserved a treat! It cuts and embosses beautifully and crafting is so much easier now. Thanks D. xx

On to today's card then - I used one of the lovely Lili of the Valley Coloured Art Pad images. This is from Set 3 Wild Flowers. I cut it out using the largest sized Spellbinders Lattice Rectangle die. I used an 8x8 ins pre-cut scalloped edge card base onto which I layered Dovecraft Back to Basics IV blue dotty paper and topped that with white card which had been embossed using the Regency Embossing Folder which comes with the eBosser. I added blue ribbon diagonally across, then added my image, a Cheery Lynn butterfly. I made a rosette which I finished off with a double twine bow and gem and finally stamped my sentiment with the same blue ink I'd used to ink all the edges and a sprinkling of Glamour Dust to complete the look.

Good Luck

Birthday Mice - With Love

Now this is the sort of card I like to make - everything already in my stash and using magazine freebies too! Pity that all my efforts aren't as economical as this one but then that wouldn't be any fun would it?

The image is from a set of 20 pre-stamped ones that were a magazine freebie and I used ProMarkers to colour in. The sentiment is also a magazine freebie from quite a while ago as is the pink flowered paper. I used my Martha Stewart heart punch along the RH side and the tiny butterflies are made with an X-Cut punch.

Talking of freebies - have you seen the latest Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine - Issue 111. I bought it yesterday and there's a lovely 6x6 embossing folder and a stamp, both with a Peacock theme. Haven't had time to try them out yet but I'm sure it won't be long.

Never Too Old...

........for Cupcake!  What a great sentiment and a fab stamp from Lili of the Valley. This will be getting a lot of use.

I really enjoyed colouring this image and added glamour dust to the wings and the icing for extra sparkle. I used a Spellbinders plain circle matted it onto this Cheery Lynn Sunflower die. It is a lovely die but a real pain to cut - it needs a number of goes through the machine, turning each time but it's worth persevering with. The flowers and leaves are Martha Stewart punches and the butterflies at the corner are part of this Butterfly Vine Border by Memory Box. I added plenty of gems and pink spotted ribbon to finish off.

Bouquets & Butterflies for Mum

This was actually made as a Mother's Day card but would, I think, work equally as well for a birthday. I was very keen to try out my new Memory Box Butterfly Vine border. It is so pretty and cuts beautifully in the Grand Calibur.

I used an 8x8 inch scalloped card blank. I then matted the four squares of Dovecraft DP onto one square of deep pink card and fixed that to the card base. The topper was made with a Lili of the Valley Cute Square which I matted onto the largest sized Spellbinders Lacey Square*. The letters were cut using a Cuttlebug Olivia Alphabet and the butterfly border and gems added to finish off.

Christening Card

So this is a Christening card for a sweet baby girl who is the granddaughter of friends of mine. The table arrangements and flowers were featuring butterflies so I kept that in mind when making the card.

Here is the box decorated with butterflies made with an X-Cut punch, a brad from The Works and butterfly circles cut with Spellbinder dies.

The card is made using an 8 x 8 inch scalloped card blank and features a Lili of the Valley stamp coloured with Promarkers and mounted onto plain and scalloped Spellbinder ovals. The background is a very pale pink Centura pearl card embossed with the Tied Together embossing folder. I have added a tiny pearl at each intersection. The sentiment was computer generated and the roses are all from Wild Orchid Crafts. I also used the stems to make the twirls and added some punched leaf branches. I used tiny butterflies (from the Spellbinder Butterfly Circles die) at each end of the sentiment and one at the top of the card. The remainder were 'sprinkled' inside the box.
