Pretty In Pink

This is a recent card I made for a Grandma to give to her granddaughter. The request was for the card to be pink and feature a little girl.

I started with an 8x8 scalloped edge card blank. I did my matting and layering using Dovecraft Back to Basics papers and silver mirri card. Image is 'Busy Doing Nothing' by Sheena Douglass, coloured with Promarkers. Dress/sash have been paper pieced using My Mind's Eye and Pink Petticoat Vintage Rose papers and matted onto Spellbinders Labels 8 shape. Sentiment is from magazine freebie paper pad. The larger flowers were made with a Nellie Snellen medium flower punch and the small ones with a Papermania Midi punch. The flourish is Marianne Creatables Swirl Leaf die. Ribbons and gems from stash.

Apologies for the blurry photo - photos 2, 3 and 4 are clear shots!

Bows n Brads

The challenge at Crafty Fairies this week is Bows n Brads and as I'm trying to post one card a week I managed to make this card fit the theme.

I started with a ready-made 6x6 scalloped edge card and added a piece of white embossed card and a Cheery Lynn doily which was topped with this lovely LOTV fairy topper. I glittered her wings and dress for extra sparkle. The sentiment is also LOTV and the brads and ribbon are from (very) old stash.

Autumn Colours

I had a new home card to make and managed to fit in some Autumn colours as there's several challenges running this theme at the moment. It hasn't photographed too well - the red leaves are not as overpowering in real-life!

I started with a 6x6 Kraft card blank which I stamped using a Papermania Square Urban All Aboard Postmark Stamp and embossed with Stampendous Gold powder. The birdhouse image is Hot Off The Press and was a freebie from Simply Cards & Papercraft mag and was embossed to match the background then cut with a Spellbinders Timeless Rectangle.  Corner flourish is also by Spellbinders: D-Lites Fantastic Flourish Two. The leaves are a mixture of Cheery Lynn Ivy Strip die and Woodware Birch Leaf punch. I added gold ribbon and red gems to finish off.

Sunflowers and Sunglasses !!

Definitely sunglasses required for this card. Not quite sure what came over me, LOL, as this counts as a very bright card for me. Anyway, the theme at this week's Crafty Fairies is 'A Numbered Birthday' and as I needed to make a 70th birthday card it fitted perfectly. I've also used the sketch from the latest Sketch Saturday challenge.

Supplies used:
Image & Sentiment - Lili of the Valley
DPs - Dovecraft Back to Basics IV
Yellow card, gems and brads - all from stash

Dies used:
Spellbinders S5-158Timeless Rectangles; Plain & Scalloped Circles
Cheery Lynn B259 Daisy Strip and B304 Ivy Strip
Cuttlebug - Olivia Alphabet

Cute As A Button

I made this card recently and the new baby really is as cute as a button (Hello Lottie!)

I started with an 8x8 scalloped card base and matted with pink and white embossed card. I used the Button Box embossing folder by Die'sire which is 8x8 size. Again I've used a fab LOTV image (I think it's called Baby Blanket), coloured with ProMarkers and which has been matted onto plain and scalloped Spellbinder circles. Sentiment is computer generated. Next I added a ribbon bow, secured with a button and twine and I finished off with some teeny butterflies and flowers with card candy centres.

Cute & Cuddly

Here is today's card and it's just right to enter the first Crafty Little Fairies Challenge as the theme is Cute n' Cuddly Critters.

Old habits die hard and I've used a LOTV stamp. This cute teddy is part of the Posy Trio and has been coloured with Promarkers and layered up under apertures cut with scalloped Nesties. Card size is 6x6 and everything used is from stash. The DPs are a mix of Dovecraft and Vintage Rose from Pink Petticoat. The tiny butterflies are made with an X-cut punch.

Butterfly Birthday

Yes, I know, Lili of the Valley again but I just can’t resist. I also wanted to enter the last ever Lili’s Little Fairies Challenge. I’ve enjoyed entering the challenges over the summer months and hope to join in with the new challenge blog.

So, on to my card. I used a 6 x 6 Kraft card blank and layered two different Vintage Rose DPs (by Craftworks) onto Kraft card. Edges have been inked with Memento Rich Cocoa. The LOTV image is one of the older Cute Squares, cut with a plain circle die and matted onto Spellbinders Butterflies Circle. Gems and ribbon from stash and the sweet butterfly stopwatch embellishment is from The Range. The sentiment is by Hot Off the Press and was a recent magazine freebie.

Cupcakes !

This is such a fab image and sentiment from LOTV and so I just had to use it again for a recent girlie birthday card. I used my ProMarkers to colour in the image and added plenty of Glamour Dust sparkle to the icing.

Retirement - Pt II

This card was made for DH's friend who retired at the same time as he did. Again I used one of the fab images from LOTV  -   Art Pad 1 - Vintage Boys   (very apt description of DH and friend, LOL).

I used Spellbinders Labels 8 to add shape to the image and matted it onto brown card that had been embossed with the Die'sire Button Box folder, then wrapped with a strip of DP and a length of raffia lace. I added a LOTV sentiment and button tied with silk thread to finish off.  Note to self - must improve my inking!!      I used a ready made 6x6 Kraft card blank for this card.

Christmas in July

I don't usually make Christmas cards but as this week's Lili's Little Fairies Challenge was to do just that, here's my effort.

I used one of the LOTV Christmas Girls cute squares that I've had for ages and glamour dusted her to the nines!  The red DP is Me to You and I embossed some white card with the Cuttlebug Snow Dots folder. Ribbon and silver sparkle cord from stash and the sentiment is a magazine freebie.

Happy Birthday

The card stock I used here is such a pretty and delicate shade of green and I really don't think my photos do it justice at all. It is Centura Pearl card which I 'found' at the bottom of a drawer. I decided to stick with the one colour as it's so pretty and it also matched really well with the LOTV sweet pea image from the Wild Flowers Art Pad.

First I embossed the Centura with my eBosser Regency folder and matted and layered the topper with Spellbinders Labels 8. I used a LOTV Sentiment mounted onto Nestie plain and scalloped circles. At the RH side is the Memory Box Butterfly Vine and the butterflies are from Cheery Lynn - Mini Things with Wings. Ribbon and gems from stash.

Card size is 8x8 inches

A double bow plus a Dazzler from Creative Expressions

Red, White and Blue challenge card

I needed a birthday card this week and thought it would be fun to make it to a challenge instead of my normal routine - i.e. make a card and then see if it will fit a challenge. Have to say that this way is much easier LOL.

I used one of my LOTV cute squares and just darkened the red with a Promarker. I cut a 6x6 base of white linen textured card and covered that with Dovecraft blue spotty paper. Some red ribbon and a red brad from stash and the red doily was cut with a Marianne die. I used my La-La-Land banner die again with a paler blue Dovecraft paper and added a few gems for some sparkle. Oh and a few touches here and there with my trusty glitter pen.

Happy Retirement

So this is the card I made for my lovely DH who has taken early retirement and officially retired today.

                                                  Congratulations D.
Looking forward to spending lots more time together xx

                                                     Bunting made using
La-La-Land Crafts Flag Banner 8040 die

The image is from LOTV's Vintage Boys Art Pad. Sentiment is also from LOTV. I used Dovecraft Back to Basics Design Papers and the blue embossed card was in my stash from way back. I added some Glossy Accents to the glass (although it hasn't shown up in the photos). The Relax wording was cut using my Cuttlebug Olivia alphabet.

eBosser and a Challenge Card

Two postings in one week - Go me, LOL.

I thought I'd share a photo of my new toy which I absolutely love. I was very happy with my Calibur which is only a little over a year old but was finding it hard to use (my fault nothing at all to do with the machine).  I've recently been told I need a shoulder replacement and my lovely DH agreed with me that I deserved a treat! It cuts and embosses beautifully and crafting is so much easier now. Thanks D. xx

On to today's card then - I used one of the lovely Lili of the Valley Coloured Art Pad images. This is from Set 3 Wild Flowers. I cut it out using the largest sized Spellbinders Lattice Rectangle die. I used an 8x8 ins pre-cut scalloped edge card base onto which I layered Dovecraft Back to Basics IV blue dotty paper and topped that with white card which had been embossed using the Regency Embossing Folder which comes with the eBosser. I added blue ribbon diagonally across, then added my image, a Cheery Lynn butterfly. I made a rosette which I finished off with a double twine bow and gem and finally stamped my sentiment with the same blue ink I'd used to ink all the edges and a sprinkling of Glamour Dust to complete the look.

Good Luck

Birthday Mice - With Love

Now this is the sort of card I like to make - everything already in my stash and using magazine freebies too! Pity that all my efforts aren't as economical as this one but then that wouldn't be any fun would it?

The image is from a set of 20 pre-stamped ones that were a magazine freebie and I used ProMarkers to colour in. The sentiment is also a magazine freebie from quite a while ago as is the pink flowered paper. I used my Martha Stewart heart punch along the RH side and the tiny butterflies are made with an X-Cut punch.

Talking of freebies - have you seen the latest Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine - Issue 111. I bought it yesterday and there's a lovely 6x6 embossing folder and a stamp, both with a Peacock theme. Haven't had time to try them out yet but I'm sure it won't be long.

Never Too Old...

........for Cupcake!  What a great sentiment and a fab stamp from Lili of the Valley. This will be getting a lot of use.

I really enjoyed colouring this image and added glamour dust to the wings and the icing for extra sparkle. I used a Spellbinders plain circle matted it onto this Cheery Lynn Sunflower die. It is a lovely die but a real pain to cut - it needs a number of goes through the machine, turning each time but it's worth persevering with. The flowers and leaves are Martha Stewart punches and the butterflies at the corner are part of this Butterfly Vine Border by Memory Box. I added plenty of gems and pink spotted ribbon to finish off.

Bouquets & Butterflies for Mum

This was actually made as a Mother's Day card but would, I think, work equally as well for a birthday. I was very keen to try out my new Memory Box Butterfly Vine border. It is so pretty and cuts beautifully in the Grand Calibur.

I used an 8x8 inch scalloped card blank. I then matted the four squares of Dovecraft DP onto one square of deep pink card and fixed that to the card base. The topper was made with a Lili of the Valley Cute Square which I matted onto the largest sized Spellbinders Lacey Square*. The letters were cut using a Cuttlebug Olivia Alphabet and the butterfly border and gems added to finish off.

Christening Card

So this is a Christening card for a sweet baby girl who is the granddaughter of friends of mine. The table arrangements and flowers were featuring butterflies so I kept that in mind when making the card.

Here is the box decorated with butterflies made with an X-Cut punch, a brad from The Works and butterfly circles cut with Spellbinder dies.

The card is made using an 8 x 8 inch scalloped card blank and features a Lili of the Valley stamp coloured with Promarkers and mounted onto plain and scalloped Spellbinder ovals. The background is a very pale pink Centura pearl card embossed with the Tied Together embossing folder. I have added a tiny pearl at each intersection. The sentiment was computer generated and the roses are all from Wild Orchid Crafts. I also used the stems to make the twirls and added some punched leaf branches. I used tiny butterflies (from the Spellbinder Butterfly Circles die) at each end of the sentiment and one at the top of the card. The remainder were 'sprinkled' inside the box.

Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day!  Hope you have a wonderful day. So here is my card for DH - double celebration for us as it's 30 years today since we got engaged. Card is quite plain and simple but I'm pleased with how it turned out.

I used an 8x8 scalloped card blank, then embossed white card with the Cuttlebug love hearts folder. I'm getting better at extending with the embossing folder now - this piece is about 7.5 inches across.. I then punched across the bottom of the white embossed piece with my Martha Stewart Lace Heart Edge punch. I made two further strips of hearts and positioned them underneath. Finished off with a Memory Box La Rue Heart backed with red card which I cut myself by drawing around the die. Add a red bow from stash box and done. No gems on this one.
