Favourite Five of 2015

This year I decided to join in with Debby's (A Scrapjourney) Favourite Five of 2015 challenge. See HERE to join in and view some really beautiful makes.

Here's my choice - although it wasn't too hard to choose my five as I've not blogged much this year. I have made quite a few cards throughout the year though.

First: Retirement

Third: Lilac Bag

Fifth: Friends

Thanks for looking and Happy New Year!

Friends

Here's a simple but elegant (I hope) white on white card made for a very good friend's birthday. She's a fellow card-maker and was very pleased with it. Always difficult making cards for fellow crafters!
I used my Tied-Together embossing folder and accented the intersections with pearls. The central band was made with a Martha Stewart punch. I stamped the sentiment in Memento Ink - London Fog I think it's called, and then finished off with a little floral arrangement and a punched and Glamour Dusted butterfly.

I also scored several lines at the sides for a bit more textural interest.

Where's the Sun...??

Where indeed! Well, what another miserable Bank Holiday weatherwise - such a shame for all those events planned. I read in yesterday's paper that we're going to have an Indian Summer so let's keep our fingers crossed.

Today's card features a cute LOTV fairy who is certainly enjoying her summer - love those sunglasses!

Image is matted and layered with Tonic Deco Geometric Layering dies onto Dovecraft DPs. I used Glossy Accents and Stickles to add some bling. The flowers were cut using a Tattered Lace Midi Blooms die.

Pink Star card

Here's a recent birthday make - not yet given but I'm pretty sure the recipient doesn't see my blog - fingers crossed anyway.

This card is very much inspired by a post from Ruth Hamilton on the Tonic blog here. I've done my own version as my star dies are much smaller than the Tonic ones.

I used the Circle Trellis dies from Tonic, the Stars are Die'sire Essentials and the fronds are from the Spellbinders Floral Flourishes set. The flower is made with my Cheery Lynn Daisy strip and the DPs are Vintage Rose collection from Pink Petticoat. Pink Candi from Craftwork Cards.

Floral Anniversary

Here's an Anniversary card and I've used blue for a change. The image is from LOTV's Art Pad 3 - Wild Flowers which I matted onto a Spellbinders Timeless Rectangle. The DPs are also LOTV, matted onto Centura Pearl. LOTV Circular sentiment was matted onto Spellbinders plain and scalloped circles. The daisy was cut from a Cheery Lynn die, butterfly border is from Memory Box. The RH corner flourish is a Signature die from Joanna Sheen and I finished off with a messy bow topped with a square dazzler.

3 Today

Poor neglected blog - not sure where the time goes but here we are in June already and where's the sun?

Anyway, this card is hopefully bright and summery. It has been made for a friend's granddaughter who likes all things pink and girly so I think it fits the bill. I managed to get this card done and entered into LOTV's first Facebook Challenge.

I used:

Image:  LOTV - Birthday Fairy - coloured with ProMarkers and added Stickles
DP:       LOTV Bonnets and Bowties: Butterfly Kisses
Flower Punch: Nellie Snellen medium flower
Butterflies:  Hobbycraft punch
Dies:    Spellbinders Scalloped Circle, Sue Wilson Petite Vinery, Cuttlebug Olivia Alphabet

Girly Birthday

Happy Bank Holiday Weekend although the weather isn't up to much is it? Quite cold here and the heating is on low!

Here's a recent birthday make using a pre-coloured LOTV image. The papers used are from LOTV's Bonnets & Bowties paper pad. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.

Image was die-cut and matted using Spellbinders scalloped circles. The flowers are made with a Cheery Lynn die and the corner flourish is a Signature die from Joanna Sheen.

Lilac Bag

Something I've been wanting and meaning to have a try at for ages. So, when I saw a pack of 4 plain brown paper bags for 97p at our local 'value' shop I just had to get them.

I covered the bag front with LOTV Promises paper, trimmed with some cream lace, and added an image from the English Charm Art Pad. A few die-cut daisies (using Sue Wilson's Open Daisies set), a LOTV Circular Sentiment and a Cheery Lynn butterfly to finish off. Gems for the flower centres and Ribbon from stash.

Very easy to do and I'm not sure why I left it so long to try.

Retirement

Here's a card I made last year and forgot to blog. Amazing what you find when you're sorting out your computer files!

I started with an 8x8 scalloped card blank and used lots of my LOTV goodies. The papers are from the Bonnets and Bowties pad and go really well with the Wild Flowers Art Pad image. I matted them onto a pale green shimmer card and rounded all the corners. Sentiment is from the For You Circular set.

The flowers and the two dragonflies were cut with my Cheery Lynn dies and I also used Spellbinders Circle and Timeless Rectangle dies.  The gems, card candy, bakers twine and ribbon were from stash as was the sweet butterfly brad used to secure the ribbon.

Bright & Sassy (very)

Something a little different from me today. You may need sunglasses! This is the card I made last year  for my son's girlfriend. I really like the colour combo but my DH said he wasn't keen! Anyway 'L' was very pleased with it and that's what matters.

Image is Scruffy Little Cat - Perry - and has been coloured with my ProMarkers - plenty of glamour dust added - and then matted and layered onto Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles. I matted the white rectangle onto a cut and embossed pink rectangle then drew around the die to get the slightly larger black frame. The flowers are cut with a Cheery Lynn Daisy die and the leaves are also by Cheery Lynn - Ivy Strip.  The bunting is a La-La-Land die which I shadow cut. Sentiment is LOTV and was a magazine freebie. Handbag charm is from stash as are the gems and ribbon. Butterfly punched using an old punch from Hobbycraft. The background DP is LOTV Bonnets & Bowties.

70th Celebrations

Here's another recent make using a pre-coloured LOTV image which was matted and layered onto Spellbinder circles. The butterflies on the right-hand side were cut using Tonic Butterflies & Blooms - Ringlet Rest.

The ribbon, fabric flower and gems were from stash. The flower centre is a pretty enamelled butterfly brad which I think came from The Works. The sentiment is from a Hunkydory kit which was a magazine freebie. Numbers cut using my Cuttlebug Olivia Alphabet dies.

First card of 2015

and I had hoped to get this post done sooner as the card was made and handed over on the 2nd of January - bit of a first for me!!

Anyhow, this was a commissioned card for a couple who got engaged on Christmas Day.

For the main image I used a LOTV Romance cute square. Then Dovecraft and some of my new LOTV backing papers, all matted onto Centura Pearl hint of silver cardstock. I punched the heart border with my Martha Stewart punch. The roses are from Wild Orchid and the ribbon/gems from stash. The 'Congratulations' sentiment is Papermania - cut into a tag using a die that was a magazine freebie. The round sentiment is from LOTV and cut with Spellbinder dies. Flourishes were cut using Marianne dies.  I also glittered the heart topiary and added Glossy Accents to the wellie boot and watering can.

Box decorated with a Nellie Snellen Multiframe Heart die
